In a show of confidence in DuPont™ Energain® & DuPont™ Climate Systems, the European Commission has agreed a LIFE development grant as part of its financial support package for the "Effenergy" (Energy Efficient Building Systems) project.
DuPont™ Energain® is a new wall panel, composed of paraffin phase change material, encapsulated in a unique DuPont polymer and laminated with aluminium. A major innovation for the construction market, this only 5mm thick panel promises to be an effective and easy to install solution to the problems of excessive energy consumption and unpleasant temperature peaks in low-inertia buildings. DuPont™ Energain® thermal mass systems can save in average 30% of air-conditioning costs, up to 15% of heating costs and reduce temperature peaks by up to 7ºC.
DuPont™ Climate Systems has been created using low emissivity membrane technologies, which reflect radiant heat and effectively manage moisture levels. The result is an internal climate that maintains comfort levels all year round, ensuring a dry, warm and draught-proof environment: no longer at the mercy of the seasons or the elements. This holistic solution enables architects, builders and roofers to take a giant leap towards meeting the demands for energy efficient construction - with a saving of up to 15% possible when building with DuPont™ Climate Systems.
The grant for the "Effenergy" project represents a 30% value of the total eligible project cost and is making a significant contribution to improving the financial performance of the business and freeing up budgets for increased resources. Furthermore, it is an important stamp of approval on the potential societal value of the project.
